Privacy policy

Updated

This policy says what happens to your information when you use Emamuse (by Emma). It is written to match how the site works today. If that changes, this page changes first.

The short version

  • You do not need an account, and the site has no sign-up, comment or contact form.
  • We do not ask you for your name, email address, phone number or address.
  • Search runs in your browser. What you type is not sent to us.
  • Fonts and images are hosted on this site. We do not load them from other companies.
  • If we add analytics or advertising later, we will ask for your consent first.

What we collect

Nothing you type. The site collects no personal information through forms, because it has none.

Your cookie choice. When you pick “Essential only” or “Accept all” in the cookie notice, your browser stores that choice on your device so we do not ask again. It is not sent anywhere and is not used to identify you. You can clear it in your browser settings and the notice will return.

Server logs. Our hosting provider records technical details of each request, such as the page asked for, the date and time, and an IP address. These logs keep the site secure and working. We do not use them to build profiles of readers.

Cookies and similar tools

Today the site uses only what it needs to work. It does not run analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.

If we add them, they will load only after you choose “Accept all”. Analytics would tell us, in aggregate, which pages help readers. Advertising would pay for the site and would be labelled “Advertisement”. You can change your mind by clearing the stored choice in your browser.

Buttons that read “Check price” are affiliate links. They open the retailer’s own website, such as an online store, in a new tab. When you click one, the retailer and its affiliate programme may set their own cookies and note that you came from us, so that we can be paid a commission if you buy. They handle your data under their own privacy policies, and we do not receive your personal details from them. See our affiliate disclosure.

Who sees your data

Our hosting provider handles server logs for us. Retailers you choose to visit have their own policies. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for other companies’ marketing.

Your rights

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or erase it, withdraw consent you gave, and raise a complaint. Because the site collects no personal data directly, the usual answer will be that we hold none. Write to us through the contact page and we will reply. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

Emamuse is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

How long we keep data

Server logs are kept for a limited time set by our hosting provider and then deleted. Your cookie choice stays on your device until you clear it.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we update the date at the top of the page. If a change affects your choices, we will ask again.
